ABOUT

Imagine the sound of Roy Orbison's ghost trekking an ageless forest, and you will find The Pxrtals...

The “x” (as a variable in mathematics) denotes The Pxrtals’ mysterious ethos through the musical spectrum. With the ability to play bombastic, speaker-bleeding rock, intimately raw and whispered folk performances in the afternoon, or enigmatic electronic sets deep into the night, The Pxrtals’ aim is to inspire and entertain audiences with energy and emotion.

Beginning with violin at age three, Lévi Soulodre’s musical journey has taken him across Canada, to the famed stage of LA’s Whisky A-Go-Go, and to the heart of Hamburg's Reeperbahn Festival — performing in the same neighbourhood where a youthful Beatles honed their skills. The Pxrtals’ explosive sound roots itself in the world of Lévi’s experiences; a spectral sound informed by his classical violin upbringing into ambient, electronic, and rock n’ roll composition. The spirit bridges 60’s psychedelic rock and contemporary pop, unified by Lévi’s life-worn, passionate croon in creating a dually new and nostalgic sound. This sound sails an ethereal universe, creating unique musical experiences.

Lévi's touring and recording experiences with his affiliated bands include: recording at Night Owl Studios off Sunset Boulevard (Los Angeles), the Treatment Room (Montréal), and SXSW (South By Southwest – Austin, Texas), NXNE (North By Northeast – Toronto, Canada), CMW (Canadian Music Week – Toronto), Pop Montréal, WCMAs (Western Canadian Music Awards), CMJ (College Music Journal Marathon), BIME (Bilbao, Spain), Incubate (Tilburg, Netherlands), the Great Escape (Brighton, UK) and Nouvelle Prague in its inaugural 2014 festival date.

The Pxrtals, conceptualized in 2012, showcased in Europe in 2016 (Hamburg, Incubate Festival). Their debut album Un Jour, released February 2018, has been described as "Sparse, haunting, and most importantly, honest." - Live Nation UK
